TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
In order to create a learning environment which is both comfortable and empowering for learners, my approach to teaching is learner-centred, strengths-based and utilizes trauma-informed principles. I strive to make my classroom environment and materials inclusive to different learner needs by design, so that I can capture their learning as and when it happens. I see the role of the teacher as a facilitator or coach who guides the learners and the learning environment to enable learners to take control and responsibility for their own learning.
For these reasons, a comfortable environment which includes an open dialogue between learners and facilitator is crucial. This will allow for discussion and regular re-evaluation of goals which will ensure the effectiveness of instruction for both the facilitator and learners. I also strongly believe that effective teaching also involves learning. I see teaching and learning as a reciprocal relationship between learners and teachers.
